Till

Drama  United States of America

The movie Till tells the story of Mamie Till Mobley's tireless fight for justice after her 14 year old son Emmett Till was brutally murdered in 1955. Emmett had traveled from Chicago to Mississippi to visit relatives, and while there, he allegedly whistled at a white woman. This led to his abduction, torture, and lynching by a group of white men.

Mamie, devastated by the loss of her son, made the controversial decision to have an open casket funeral, allowing the world to see the horrific injuries inflicted upon Emmett. The images of his mutilated body sparked outrage and ignited the Civil Rights Movement.

Despite the overwhelming evidence against Emmett's killers, they were acquitted by an all-white jury. Mamie refused to give up on obtaining justice for her son, and dedicated her life to fighting for civil rights and advocating for justice. She traveled the country giving speeches, speaking out against racism, and raising awareness about the need for change.

The movie Till is a poignant tribute to Mamie's bravery and determination. It stars Danielle Deadwyler as Mamie and focuses on her relentless pursuit of justice for her son. The film is directed by Dwayne Johnson-Cochran and produced by Whoopi Goldberg. It is set to premiere in 2021.
