Tik Tik Tik is a Tamil science fiction action film directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan and produced by Hitesh Jhabak. It stars Jayam Ravi, Nivetha Pethuraj, and Aaron Aziz in the lead roles. The film is the first Indian space film, where the story revolves around an asteroid on a collision course with Earth.
In the movie, an asteroid on a collision course with Chennai is discovered by a team of astronomers. The disaster would wipe out the entire city and its surrounding regions, which includes around four crore people. A race against time to save the lives of these millions begins, and a five-member team from the Indian Defence Space Division is sent on a mission to stop the asteroid.
The team is led by Vasu (Jayam Ravi), a trained astronaut, and includes Swathi (Nivetha Pethuraj), a scientist, and Venkat (Ramesh Thilak), a navigation expert. They are joined by Appu (Arjunan), a magician, and Raghu (Jaya Prakash), a computer expert.
The team is launched into space in a Space Shuttle, and they successfully plant a nuclear bomb inside the asteroid. However, the asteroid is too large, and the bomb is not powerful enough to obliterate it entirely, and hence a desperate plan is devised to use a gravity tug to move the asteroid away from its collision course with Earth.
