Tightrope is a 1984 crime thriller directed by Richard Tuggle and starring Clint Eastwood as Wes Block, a New Orleans detective investigating a series of murders committed by a serial killer who targets young women. While investigating the case, Block discovers disturbing similarities between the murders and his own personal life, including his sexual habits and the women he's been involved with.

As the investigation intensifies, Block becomes increasingly obsessed with catching the killer and starts to take dangerous risks, putting his own life and those of his loved ones in peril. The killer, known as "The Iceman", proves to be elusive and cunning, leaving cryptic clues to taunt and challenge the police.

Along with his partner, Detective Molinari (Dan Hedaya), Block unravels a web of deception and deviance, leading him to a shocking discovery about the killer's identity and motivations. In the end, Block must confront his own darkest desires and make a fateful decision to bring the killer to justice.

The film features notable performances by Geneviève Bujold as Beryl Thibodeaux, a rape victim who helps Block with the investigation, and Alison Eastwood as Amanda Block, Wes' young daughter who becomes the target of The Iceman's twisted obsession.

Tightrope is known for its dark and moody atmosphere, gritty realism, and provocative themes of sexuality and violence. It was a commercial success upon its release, grossing over $48 million at the box office, and has since become a cult classic among fans of the crime genre.
