Tideland follows the story of Jeliza-Rose, a young girl whose parents are drug addicts. When her mother dies from an overdose, Jeliza-Rose's father takes her to live in an old, dilapidated estate in the countryside. However, he soon abandons her, leaving her alone with her vivid imagination and the decaying house as her only companions.
Despite her grim circumstances, Jeliza-Rose finds solace in her own imagination, creating wild and fantastical scenarios to escape her lonely reality. She befriends her only neighbors, Dell and his mentally challenged sister, and the three begin to form an unconventional family. However, Jeliza-Rose's reality becomes increasingly dark and twisted as her imagination takes on a life of its own.
As Jeliza-Rose's world spirals out of control, she must confront the harsh realities of her situation and find a way to survive in a world that refuses to show her any kindness. The film explores themes of innocence, loneliness, and the power of imagination through a surreal and often disturbing lens.
