In the movie Ticks, a group of troubled teens are taken to a remote retreat center in the northern California wilderness for a weekend of therapy and team building exercises. However, their plans for a peaceful weekend are quickly disrupted when they stumble upon a marijuana plantation run by a group of ruthless farmers who have been polluting the surrounding ecosystem with their toxic pesticides.
The group of teens soon discover that the chemicals used by the farmers have caused a group of ticks to mutate into giant, blood-thirsty insects that are now terrorizing the area. As the teens struggle to survive the attacks of the mutant insects, they are forced to confront their own fears and past traumas in order to overcome their current predicament.
Led by a tough, no-nonsense counselor named Holly (played by Rosalind Allen), the teens must band together and use their individual skills to fight off the vicious creatures and escape the deadly wilderness. Along the way, they also discover the source of their own inner strength and learn to trust and rely on one another in order to survive.
