Thunderbirds are GO is a 1966 British science fiction film based on the popular television series Thunderbirds. The film follows the story of the Zero-X mission, a manned exploration mission that crashes during lift-off on its maiden flight.

The investigation into the crash takes two years to conclude and it turns out the mission was sabotaged. To avoid such incidents in the future, an investigative committee calls on the services of International Rescue, a secret organisation that provides assistance to those in need.

International Rescue oversees the security of the second launch of Zero-X, which successfully reaches its destination, which is Mars. However, the Zero-X mission encounters unexpected hazards on the red planet, including mysterious alien forces.

On the return journey to Earth, the Zero-X mission experiences further difficulties, requiring the assistance of International Rescue once again. This leads to some exciting action scenes, as the Thunderbirds are dispatched to save the crew of the Zero-X and bring them safely back to Earth.

The film features characters from the original series, including the Tracy family, who operate the International Rescue organisation and pilot the iconic Thunderbirds vehicles. It also introduced new characters, such as the astronaut Paul Travers and his fellow Zero-X crew members.

Thunderbirds are GO was directed by David Lane and produced by Gerry Anderson, who also created the original Thunderbirds television series. It features a memorable musical score by composer Barry Gray and impressive special effects for its time. Overall, Thunderbirds are GO is an exciting, action-packed adventure that will appeal to fans of science fiction and the Thunderbirds franchise.
