Thunderball is the fourth film in the James Bond franchise and was released in 1965. The film sees Sean Connery reprising his role as the suave and daring secret agent, who is tasked with recovering two stolen nuclear weapons and preventing their detonation.
The film opens with Bond attending the funeral of a fellow agent, who was killed while trying to track down the missing nukes. Bond is then sent to the Bahamas to investigate the matter further. There, he meets Emilio Largo, a wealthy businessman who is suspected of having links to the missing weapons.
Bond soon discovers that Largo is indeed the head of an organization known as SPECTRE, which has stolen the devices as part of a plot to extort a huge ransom from the world's governments. Bond must race against time to recover the nukes and stop Largo before it's too late.
Along the way, Bond is aided by a host of colorful characters, including his old flame Domino, Largo's mistress, and Felix Leiter, his CIA contact. Bond must use all of his skills, charm, and ingenuity to thwart Largo's plans and save the world from nuclear annihilation.
The film features some iconic Bond moments, including a scuba-diving battle between Bond and Largo's henchmen and an explosive finale aboard Largo's yacht. It was a major box office success and helped establish Bond as a cultural icon.
