Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is a dark comedic drama film directed by Martin McDonagh. The film stars Frances McDormand as Mildred Hayes, a grieving mother who is seeking justice for her daughter's murder. Woody Harrelson plays Chief Bill Willoughby, the head of the police department in Ebbing, Missouri, who is battling terminal cancer. Sam Rockwell plays Officer Jason Dixon, a hot-headed and racist police officer whom Mildred believes is responsible for her daughter's death.

After seven months of no progress in her daughter's investigation, Mildred puts up three billboards outside of her town that read, "Raped while dying", "And still no arrests?" and "How come, Chief Willoughby?" This triggers a series of events that divides the town and pits Mildred against the police department. Chief Willoughby sympathizes with Mildred's plight and acknowledges that he cannot solve the case.

Meanwhile, Officer Dixon takes offense to the billboards and begins to harass Mildred and everyone associated with her. His actions worsen when he is fired due to his violent behavior. However, after learning that Chief Willoughby has committed suicide, Dixon rethinks his behavior and decides to take matters into his own hands to bring justice to Mildred.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri explores themes of grief, justice, and redemption. The film has received critical acclaim for its performances, direction, and screenplay. Frances McDormand won Best Actress at the 90th Academy Awards for her role as Mildred Hayes.
