Cam Calloway is a hard-working man who loves his family and their natural surroundings. He is particularly fond of the geese that fly over their home every year and dreams of building a sanctuary for them. However, when he tries to buy a nearby lake, he faces many obstacles and setbacks.
Cam and his son try to trap enough furs to raise the money they need, but the market crashes and they are left with nothing. In a desperate move, Cam puts the down payment on the lake and loses their house when he can't make the mortgage payments.
The family moves to the lake and their friends help them build a cabin, but they soon face another challenge when a salesman arrives in town and tries to buy up everyone's land for a tourist venture. Cam is outraged at the man's tactics and takes desperate measures to stop him.
Throughout the movie, Cam struggles to achieve his dream of building a sanctuary for the geese and faces many setbacks along the way. However, he never loses his determination and eventually finds a way to make it happen. Along the way, he learns the importance of family, community, and perseverance.
