In the movie Thinner, the fat lawyer named Billy Halleck accidentally hits and kills an old gypsy woman while driving recklessly. Billy is acquitted of the crime in court due to his connections with the mafia, but the victim's father, Tadzu Lempke, places a curse on Billy, saying "Thinner" as he touches him.
Soon after, Billy starts losing weight fast and he seeks medical help, but no treatments seem to work. As he continues to lose weight, he also loses control of his life and relationships. His wife leaves him, his daughter is ashamed of him, and his mafia friends turn against him, thinking that he is dying of a disease and will betray them.
Desperate to break the curse, Billy and his mafia associates track down Tadzu and try to force him to remove the curse. Tadzu agrees to do so if Billy sacrifices something of great value to him. Billy decides to sacrifice his own daughter, which leads to a bloody and tragic confrontation with Tadzu.
In the end, the curse is lifted but at a great cost to Billy. He has lost everything he held dear and is left alone to deal with the consequences of his actions. The movie is based on a novel by Stephen King and explores the themes of guilt, punishment, and revenge.
