Thieves' Highway is a 1949 film noir directed by Jules Dassin and starring Richard Conte, Valentina Cortese, and Lee J. Cobb. The film follows Nick Garcos as he returns home to California's San Francisco after World War II. His plans to start a new life with his girlfriend Polly Faber are derailed when he learns that his father has been left paralyzed and bankrupt by a deal gone wrong with the ruthless and calculating Mike Figlia.
Determined to take revenge and get justice for his father, Nick goes to meet with Figlia, but is swindled out of his cargo of highly valued Golden Delicious apples. Nick then teams up with a young prostitute named Rica, who knows the inner workings of the local criminal underworld.
As Nick and Rica scheme to get their stolen apples back and put an end to Figlia's reign of terror, they become increasingly entangled in the dangerous and corrupt world of organized crime. Nick soon finds himself playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Figlia, risking everything he has to get the justice he so desperately seeks.
