Then She Found Me is a 2007 American comedy-drama film directed by and starring Helen Hunt. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Elinor Lipman. Alongside Hunt, the movie stars Bette Midler, Colin Firth, and Matthew Broderick.

The story follows April Epner (Helen Hunt), a 39-year-old New York schoolteacher who is trying to navigate her way through a midlife crisis. She is still coming to terms with her adoptive mother's recent death and her husband (Matthew Broderick) leaving her for a younger woman. Her life takes another unexpected turn when her biological mother, Bernice Graves (Bette Midler), an eccentric talk show host, appears out of nowhere and begins to complicate matters.

Despite her initial reluctance, April slowly forms a relationship with her birth mother, who becomes increasingly involved in her life and tries to intervene wherever possible. Things become even more complicated when April starts an affair with the father (Colin Firth) of one of her students, leading to a series of unforeseen consequences.

Throughout the film, April is forced to confront her own personal demons and reconcile her conflicting relationships with her adoptive and biological families. The movie is a poignant exploration of mother-daughter relationships, love, loss, and forgiveness.
