The Young Victoria is a 2009 historical drama film directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and written by Julian Fellowes. The film chronicles the early life of Queen Victoria, portrayed by Emily Blunt, from her ascension to the throne at the age of 18 to her marriage to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Through a series of flashbacks, the film explores Victoria's upbringing under the influence of her mother, the Duchess of Kent, and her mother's trusted adviser, Sir John Conroy, who seek to control her reign by forcing her to sign a regency order. However, Victoria resists their attempts and instead relies on the guidance of her beloved prime minister, Lord Melbourne, played by Paul Bettany.

Meanwhile, Victoria's uncle Leopold, King of the Belgians, sees an opportunity to strengthen his own political power by arranging a marriage between Victoria and his nephew, Prince Albert, played by Rupert Friend. Despite initial reluctance, Victoria and Albert develop a deep affection for each other, and their marriage becomes a source of strength and stability for the young queen.

The film also features strong supporting performances from Miranda Richardson as Victoria's mother, Mark Strong as Sir John Conroy, and Jim Broadbent as King William IV. The film was praised for its attention to historical detail and its nuanced portrayal of Victoria as a strong and independent young woman.
