The World in His Arms is a 1952 adventure film directed by Raoul Walsh, starring Gregory Peck as Jonathan Clark, a boisterous sea captain in the Pacific Coast during the mid-19th century who has his sights set on the Russian territory of Alaska. Despite warnings from his crew and rivals, Clark is determined to purchase the land from the Russian government, which is in dire need of funds at the time.

As Clark sets out on his journey to St. Petersburg, he encounters a beautiful Russian countess named Marina Selanova (played by Ann Blyth) who initially despises him for his crude behavior but is eventually won over by his charm. However, their budding romance is threatened by Captain Phillip Philbrick (played by Anthony Quinn), a rival captain who is also vying for Marina's affections and will stop at nothing to sabotage Clark's mission.

Once in St. Petersburg, Clark faces numerous obstacles as he tries to negotiate a deal with the Russian officials, including bribery, threats, and even assassination attempts. But with the help of Marina and his loyal crew, he perseveres and ultimately succeeds in purchasing Alaska from the Russians.

The film features sweeping vistas, thrilling action sequences, and stunning Technicolor cinematography, and was praised both for its entertainment value and its historical accuracy. While it was not a commercial success at the time of its release, The World in His Arms has since become a beloved classic among fans of adventure films.
