The rich man, Henry Sugar, travels to India to seek out the guru who is reputed to possess extraordinary powers. He finds the guru, a wise and kind-hearted man named Shri Gopal, and convinces him to teach him the ability to see without using his eyes. Over the course of many months, Henry dedicates himself to the guru's teachings, undergoing rigorous training and practicing long hours each day.
Eventually, Henry develops the ability to "see" using other senses, such as sound and touch, and is able to navigate the world without using his eyes. However, instead of using his newfound skill for good, as Shri Gopal intended, Henry decides to use it to cheat at gambling. He becomes addicted to the thrill of winning, and uses his abilities to amass a huge fortune.
However, as time goes on, Henry begins to feel guilty about his actions. He realizes that he has used his gift for selfish reasons, and that he has betrayed the trust of the guru who taught him. He decides to give up his life of crime and use his wealth to do good in the world, donating to charities and helping those in need.
In the end, Henry returns to India and seeks out Shri Gopal, hoping to make amends for his past misdeeds. The guru forgives him, and helps him to continue on the path of self-improvement and serving others. The film ends with Henry reflecting on his journey, and the lessons he has learned about the true meaning of wealth and happiness.
