The film, released in 2010, is a remake of the 1941 classic horror film of the same name. Lawrence Talbot is played by actor Benicio Del Toro, while his father, Sir John Talbot, is played by Anthony Hopkins. Emily Blunt also stars as Lawrence's brother's fiancé, Gwen Conliffe.
After being bitten by a werewolf, Lawrence is taken to an asylum where he undergoes treatment. He later learns that his brother has been killed by the same werewolf and sets out to find and kill the creature. As he becomes more and more consumed by his own werewolf transformation, Lawrence must also contend with a skeptical police inspector played by Hugo Weaving.
The film features stunning visual effects and a gothic atmosphere that pays homage to the classic horror films of the past. Despite mixed reviews, The Wolfman was a commercial success and remains a beloved part of the horror movie canon.
