Larry Talbot, played by Lon Chaney Jr., is a successful businessman living in America when he receives news of his brother's death in their family's ancestral home in Wales. He returns to his hometown and reconciles with his estranged father, Sir John Talbot, played by Claude Rains. One night, while out walking in the woods, Larry saves a young woman named Gwen Conliffe from being attacked by a wolf-like creature. In the process, he is bitten by the creature, unknowingly setting himself on a path to becoming a werewolf.
As the full moon approaches, Larry begins to experience strange symptoms, such as sensitivity to light and an uncontrollable hunger for raw meat. He soon realizes that he is transforming into a werewolf and begins to fear what he might do in his animal state.
As the attacks continue, suspicion falls on Larry, and he becomes a hunted man. He seeks out the help of a gypsy woman named Maleva, who tells him that the only way to break the curse is with a silver bullet. Larry struggles with his inner beast, knowing that he could harm the ones he loves, but unable to stop his terrible transformation.
The Wolf Man is a classic horror film with themes of isolation, fear, and the struggle between good and evil. Its influence can still be felt in modern horror movies, and the image of Chaney Jr.'s tragic werewolf remains an iconic figure in horror lore.
