The Wiz is a retelling of the classic story of The Wizard of Oz, but with an entirely African American cast and a modern twist. After a tornado hits Harlem, Dorothy finds herself transported to the Land of Oz. There she meets a Scarecrow (Michael Jackson), a Tin Man (Nipsey Russell), and a Cowardly Lion (Ted Ross), and together they set out to find the Wiz (Richard Pryor), a powerful sorcerer who they believe can help them return home.
