The movie The Witches is based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. In the story, a young boy named Luke is staying with his grandmother in a hotel in England when he discovers that a group of witches are holding a secret meeting there.
Unfortunately, Luke is caught spying on the witches and is turned into a mouse by the Grand High Witch, who plans to use a potion to turn all the children in England into mice. With the help of his grandmother and a fellow mouse named Bruno, Luke sets out to stop the witches and reverse his transformation.
The movie adaptation of The Witches was released in 1990 and starred Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch and a young boy named Jasen Fisher as Luke. The film was directed by Nicolas Roeg and received mixed reviews upon its release but has since become a cult classic. It was remade in 2020 starring Anne Hathaway as the Grand High Witch, and directed by Robert Zemeckis.
