The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap is a comedy-western film directed by Charles Barton and released in 1947. The film stars the comedy duo of Abbott and Costello as Chester Wooley and Duke Egan, respectively, who play the roles of traveling salesmen.

During their stopover in Wagon Gap, Montana, Chester and Duke unwittingly get caught up in a murder investigation. A notorious criminal named Jake Frame is murdered, and the sheriff and townspeople suspect that the two salesmen were involved in the crime.

Chester and Duke try to clear their names by investigating the murder themselves. Along the way, they encounter a number of colorful characters, including a beautiful widow named Jane Russell (played by Marjorie Main), who is suspected of having something to do with Frame's death.

As the investigation continues, Chester and Duke are threatened by both the townspeople and the real culprit behind Frame's murder. In the end, they are able to solve the mystery and clear their names, thanks to their quick thinking and comedic antics.

The film was well-received upon its release and is now considered a classic comedy-western.
