The town doctor, played by actor Stephen Rea, first encounters the stranger when he is brought into his office for treatment after being attacked by a wild animal. The stranger, played by actor Tom Noonan, is clearly hiding something and the doctor becomes increasingly suspicious of his true nature. Meanwhile, the sheriff, played by actor Dee Wallace, is investigating a string of brutal murders in the town and is convinced that a wild animal is responsible.
As the doctor and his daughter, played by actress Emily Deschanel, try to help the mysterious stranger, they begin to uncover clues that suggest there may be more to the murders than meets the eye. When they discover that the two rogue scientists, played by actors Lance Henriksen and Jeffrey Combs, are responsible for the serum that turns a man into a werewolf, they realize that the stranger may have been one of their test subjects.
As the plot thickens, it becomes clear that the car accident victim, played by actor Michael Cudlitz, was not a mere victim of circumstance, but was deliberately targeted by the scientists as a potential subject for their experiments. His wife and children are also in danger as the serum begins to take hold of him and he becomes more and more erratic.
The climax of the movie sees the doctor and his daughter teaming up with the sheriff to take down the werewolf and bring the rogue scientists to justice. The Werewolf was directed by Steven C. Miller and released in 2016.
