The Way Back is a 2020 sports drama film directed by Gavin O'Connor and starring Ben Affleck. Affleck plays Jack Cunningham, a former high school basketball phenom who walked away from the game and his family after losing his wife and struggling with alcohol addiction.
The film starts with Jack working a construction job and drowning his sorrows at a local bar. When his former high school calls him to coach their struggling basketball team, Jack initially declines but eventually takes on the job.
