The Water Horse is a 2007 fantasy movie directed by Jay Russell and produced by Walden Media. The movie is set in 1942 Scotland and follows the story of a young boy named Angus MacMorrow (played by Alex Etel) who discovers a strange egg while walking on the beach near his home. The egg hatches into a cute creature that Angus names Crusoe. However, he soon discovers that Crusoe is not an ordinary creature but a water horse, a mythical creature from Scottish folklore.
As Angus takes care of Crusoe, he soon realizes that he has a responsibility to protect him from the prying eyes of the outside world. With the help of his sister Kirstie (played by Priyanka Xi) and a new friend named Lewis Mowbray (played by Ben Chaplin), Angus tries to keep Crusoe hidden from the military who occupy the nearby town and are looking for any suspicious activity.
As the creature grows bigger and stronger, Angus soon realizes that Crusoe cannot stay hidden forever. With the help of a local elderly man named Old Angus (played by Brian Cox), Angus learns about the legend of the water horse and the story of the Loch Ness monster. Together, they devise a plan to return Crusoe to his natural habitat.
