The Visitors

on the plot and characters.

The movie begins in 1123 A.D. in a castle in France. The knight, Godefroy de Montmirail (played by Jean Reno), is about to marry his love, Frénégonde de Pouille. However, just before the wedding, his servant, Jacquouille la Fripouille (played by Christian Clavier), steals the fortunes of the castle and runs away. Godefroy chases after him, and they both end up in a nearby forest where they encounter a wizard who has lost his mental faculties and is unable to operate his time-traveling portal correctly.

In a comedic mishap, the portal sends Godefroy and Jacquouille to the present day, landing them in the middle of a luxury hotel that now stands on the site of their former castle. The two men find themselves struggling to adapt to modern-day technology, language, and customs. Their antics lead to comedic misunderstandings and miscommunications.

Meanwhile, the wizard's assistant, Béatrice de Montmirail (played by Valérie Lemercier), who is also Godefroy's descendant, is sent back in time to help retrieve the pair. Her attempts to tame their wild behavior and get them back to their own time trigger even more hilarious misunderstandings.

As Godefroy and Jacquouille become increasingly determined to return to their own time period, they launch an all-out attack on the hotel, channeling their medieval warrior skills to create chaos. Along the way, they team up with a group of high school students who discover the time travelers and endeavor to help them achieve their goal.

In the end, Godefroy and Jacquouille manage to find their way back to medieval France, but not without a few more twists and turns in the plot, resulting in a satisfying and hilarious resolution.
