The Viral Factor is a 2012 Hong Kong action thriller film directed by Dante Lam. The film stars Jay Chou as Jon, a skilled international security agent who is on a mission to escort a criminal scientist, played by Andrew Lin, to another country. However, the mission goes awry when a member of Jon's team turns out to be a traitor and shoots him in the head.
Jon wakes up in the hospital with a bullet lodged in his brain, and a doctor tells him that he only has a few weeks left before he becomes completely paralyzed. Determined to make the most of his time, Jon returns to Beijing to see his mother, who reveals that Jon has a long-lost brother, Yeung, who was raised by their father in Malaysia.
On the plane to Malaysia, Jon meets Dr. Kan, played by Lin Peng, who promises to help him find alternative treatments for his condition. However, upon arriving in Malaysia, Yeung attempts to kidnap Dr. Kan, and Jon intervenes, only to be taken hostage as well. It is then revealed that Yeung is working for a criminal organization that is attempting to reinfect the world with a deadly disease that was long thought to be cured.
As the brothers work together to stop the criminals and find a cure for Jon's condition, they also come to terms with their complicated past and the secrets that their family has kept from them. The Viral Factor is an action-packed thriller that combines family drama, suspenseful plot twists, and impressive stunts and fight scenes.
