"The Vanishing" is a psychological thriller that tells the story of Thomas, James, and Donald, three lighthouse keepers who are stationed on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. One day, they discover a trunk washed up on the shore that contains gold bars and a letter that reveals the location of a shipwreck with more treasure.
The three men are faced with a moral dilemma as they decide whether to keep the treasure or report it to the authorities. As they continue to argue over what to do, tensions rise between them and secrets from their past threaten to surface.
Things take a dark turn when the three men begin to suspect each other of wrongdoing, and the isolated island becomes a battleground for survival. As the thriller unfolds, the audience is left wondering who will come out on top and what secrets will be revealed.
"The Vanishing" stars Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan, and Connor Swindells and was directed by Kristoffer Nyholm. It was released in 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics.
