The Upside is a 2017 American comedy-drama film directed by Neil Burger and written by Jon Hartmere. The film is a remake of the 2011 French film Les Intouchables.

The film stars Bryan Cranston as Phillip, a wealthy quadriplegic and Nicole Kidman as his executive assistant, Yvonne. Kevin Hart plays Dell Scott, a recently paroled convict who is hired by Phillip to be his caretaker. Dell has had a troubled past and is attempting to reconnect with his ex-girlfriend Latrice and their son, Anthony.

The two characters come from vastly different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, leading to some initial friction. However, as Dell starts to settle into the role of Phillip's caregiver, a bond begins to develop between the two men.

Phillip starts to see the world in a different light as Dell introduces him to new experiences and helps him break out of his comfort zone. Meanwhile, Dell is able to rediscover his love for his family and starts to find direction in his life.

Despite the heart-warming nature of the story, the film has not been without controversy. The casting of Kevin Hart, a comedian known for his raunchy standup routines, in the role of a caretaker for a disabled man, has been criticized by some for perpetuating stereotypes of African American men.

However, many viewers have praised the chemistry between Cranston and Hart and the film’s positive message of overcoming one's preconceptions and stereotypes. The Upside was a box office success, grossing over $122 million worldwide.
