The Upside of Anger is a 2005 comedy-drama film directed by Mike Binder. The film stars Joan Allen as Terry Wolfmeyer, a suburban wife and mother who is coping with the abandonment of her husband. Kevin Costner stars as Denny Davies, Terry's neighbor and former baseball player turned radio DJ.

As she copes with her husband's departure, Terry turns to alcohol to numb the pain. Denny becomes her drinking buddy and confidant, and the two form a close friendship. Terry's four daughters, Hadley, Emily, Andy, and Lavender, each cope with their father's absence in their own way, but all of them rely heavily on Denny's presence in their lives.

As Terry and Denny's friendship deepens, Terry begins to question whether Denny's intentions are purely platonic or if there is something more between them. Her doubts are fueled by her eldest daughter's suspicions about Denny's motives.

Throughout the film, Terry grapples with her anger and sadness over her husband's betrayal, unsure of what the future holds for herself and her family. The Upside of Anger is a poignant exploration of family dynamics, romantic relationships, and the power of forgiveness.
