The True Don Quixote follows the life of Tim Blake Nelson's character, Adam, who is a successful and wealthy man living in a modern-day world. Despite his success, he is unhappy and unfulfilled with his mundane life. One day, while reading the classic novel Don Quixote, he becomes enamored with the idea of being a hero and goes on a mission to find adventure and meaning in his life.
Adam begins to see the world through the eyes of Don Quixote, believing that he is a knight who needs to right the wrongs of the world. Along the way, he meets a cast of characters including a beautiful woman he believes to be his damsel in distress, a loyal sidekick, and a villainous figure he must defeat.
Despite his noble intentions, Adam's delusion puts himself and those around him in danger. His friends and family try to intervene and bring him back to reality, but Adam is determined to live out his fantasy no matter the cost.
As Adam's quest continues, he begins to realize that the world he's fighting for may not be as black and white as he once thought, and that perhaps the true battles he needs to face are within himself.
The True Don Quixote is a modern retelling of the classic story, exploring themes of adventure, identity, and the search for purpose in life.
