The Tripper

Horror  United States of America

The Tripper is a horror-comedy film released in 2006, directed and co-written by David Arquette. The film revolves around a group of hippies who are heading to a weekend-long concert in the woods of Northern California. Once they arrive, they encounter a Ronald Reagan-obsessed serial killer who, dressed in a mask resembling the former president, is determined to eliminate anyone he deems unpatriotic.

The killer's motive is rooted in his hatred of the '60s counterculture movement and his belief that the country has lost its way since then. As he begins to hunt down and murder the concert-goers one by one, a local sheriff and his deputy investigate the gruesome killings.

Among the group of hippies are Samantha (Jaime King), who is attending the concert with her boyfriend Ivan (Lucas Haas), and her ex-boyfriend Muff (Balthazar Getty), whose jealous behavior leads to tension within the group. Meanwhile, the killer, who is revealed to have ties to the local government, grows increasingly insane as his obsession with Reagan reaches a dangerous boiling point.

The Tripper combines elements of slasher films, political satire, and campy humor to make a unique horror movie. It also features appearances by notable actors like Thomas Jane and Jason Mewes.
