The Trip follows the story of Annie and Darren, a married couple who are struggling with their relationship. In an attempt to save their marriage, they decide to take a trip to a remote cabin by a lake.
However, both Annie and Darren have secret plans to kill each other during their trip. Annie has been nursing a deep resentment towards Darren for his infidelity and wants to exact revenge, while Darren is planning to murder Annie to collect on her life insurance policy.
As they settle into their cabin, tension between them escalates, leading to a series of arguments and near-misses as they both attempt to carry out their plans. However, their schemes are put on hold when unexpected visitors arrive - Annie's sister and her husband.
