Ed Hemsler (played by John Lithgow) is a retired man with a keen interest in preparing for the end of the world. He spends his days stocking up on supplies such as non-perishable food, medical equipment, and weapons.
Ronnie Meisner (played by Blythe Danner) is a widow who spends her days shopping for things she may never use. She tries to fill the void left by the death of her husband by acquiring material possessions.
When Ed and Ronnie meet at a local grocery store, they are immediately drawn to each other. However, their different perspectives on life and their attachment to their possessions create some challenges in their relationship.
As they get to know each other, Ed opens up to Ronnie about his troubled past and his fear of being alone in the event of a disaster. Ronnie, on the other hand, starts to question her own materialistic tendencies and begins to see the value in more meaningful experiences.
The Tomorrow Man is a heartwarming story about two people from different walks of life finding love and learning to let go of their fears and possessions. Directed by Noble Jones, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2019.
