The Tomb of Ligeia is a 1964 horror film directed by Roger Corman and starring Vincent Price. The film is based on the short story "Ligeia" by Edgar Allan Poe.
Verden Fell is a widower who is haunted by the memory of his deceased wife, Ligeia. He is convinced that she will return to him one day and has become obsessed with studying the occult in hopes of making contact with her. One day, he meets Lady Rowena Trevanion and falls in love with her. They eventually get married and move into Fell's dilapidated abbey. However, as their relationship progresses, strange things begin to happen. Lady Rowena becomes increasingly unnerved by the presence of Ligeia's spirit in the house and the eerie noises coming from her tomb.
As Lady Rowena investigates, she discovers a shocking truth about Ligeia's death and becomes determined to save Fell from the clutches of his dead wife. But Ligeia's spirit, as well as Fell's own obsession, threaten to destroy their happiness and sanity.
The Tomb of Ligeia is known for its atmospheric visuals, eerie score, and strong performances from the cast, particularly Vincent Price as the tormented Verden Fell. The film is considered one of the best adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's work and remains a classic of the horror genre.
