The Tiger Rising is a 2020 film adaptation of the 2001 novel of the same name by Kate DiCamillo. The film stars Christian Convery as Rob Horton, who discovers the caged tiger in the woods behind the Kentucky Star Motel where he lives with his father. Despite being told to keep it a secret, Rob eventually confides in Sistine Bailey, a new girl at school played by Madalen Mills. As they try to figure out what to do about the tiger, Rob must confront the memory of his deceased mother and deal with his emotionally distant father, played by Dennis Quaid.
Willie May, played by Queen Latifah, is a maid at the motel who offers Rob guidance and understanding. As the story progresses, Rob and Sistine embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing as they try to navigate the complex emotions that surround the tiger and their personal lives.
The film was directed by Ray Giarratana and written by John Fusco. It was released on DVD on December 1, 2020.
