The Thaw is a 2009 horror movie that revolves around a group of ecology students who visit a remote Arctic research station to learn about the effects of global warming on the natural environment. However, their trip takes a horrifying turn when they accidentally bring a prehistoric parasite back to the station after discovering it inside the carcass of a Woolly Mammoth.

Soon after, one of the students becomes infected with the parasite and begins to suffer from terrifying symptoms that include hallucinations, delusions, and seizures. The group realizes that they need to contain the parasite before it spreads and causes a global pandemic.

They attempt to quarantine themselves inside the station and seek medical attention from the nearest town, but their efforts are hampered by the harsh Arctic climate and the rapid spread of the parasite. To make matters worse, they discover that their communications system is not functioning properly, and they can't call for help.

As the infected student grows more unstable and the other students struggle to keep their own fears in check, they begin to question their priorities and make desperate decisions about who to sacrifice for the greater good. Meanwhile, the parasite continues to mutate and evolve, becoming more deadly with each passing day.

In the end, the surviving students must confront the terrifying reality that the real threat of global warming isn't the melting ice, but what's been frozen within it for thousands of years.
