Horror  United States of America

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is a horror film released in 1974 and directed by Tobe Hooper. It follows a group of five young friends – Sally Hardesty, her brother Franklin, and their friends Jerry, Kirk, and Pam – who are traveling to visit Sally and Franklin's grandfather's grave in rural Texas. Along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker who proceeds to freak them out with his strange behavior and penchant for self-harm. After they kick him out of their van, they stumble upon a dilapidated farmhouse and decide to investigate.

What they find inside is a nightmare. The patriarch of the family, a deranged and wheelchair-bound former slaughterhouse worker named Drayton Sawyer, invites them to stay for dinner, but it quickly becomes apparent that his family is a pack of psychopathic killers. Sally and her friends try to leave, but they are hunted down one by one by Leatherface, a massive and deformed man who wears a mask made of human skin and wields a chainsaw.

The movie is infamous for its intense violence and brutality, as well as its gritty, documentary-style cinematography and haunting sound design. It is widely considered a classic of the horror genre and has inspired numerous sequels and remakes.
