Abigail is a former prosecutor who has just started teaching a course on ethics at a prestigious law school. Her first assignment is to lead a jury in a trial, and she ultimately convicts a man who turns out to be innocent. The experience shakes her deeply, causing her to reevaluate her approach to the law.
One of her students is Vincent, a highly driven and ambitious young man who is determined to do whatever it takes to succeed. Abigail is initially impressed by Vincent's passion and determination, but she soon realizes that he is willing to cheat and lie to get ahead.
When Abigail catches Vincent cheating on an exam, she fails him and reports him to the school's ethics committee. Vincent becomes enraged and begins to plot his revenge, targeting Abigail in a series of escalating attacks.
As Vincent's threats become more and more sinister, Abigail must use all of her legal skills and ethical principles to protect herself and stop him from harming others. Along the way, she learns some hard lessons about the corrupting influence of ambition and the importance of standing up for what is right, even when it's not easy.
