In The Starving Games, Kantmiss Evershot (played by Maiara Walsh) is a teenage girl living in District 12 in the dystopian society of Panem. When she is selected to participate in the 75th annual Hunger Games (referred to as the Starving Games), she must fight for her survival against other tributes, including familiar characters from popular movies and TV shows.
Throughout the competition, Kantmiss meets a variety of colorful personalities, including a boy named Peter Malarky (a nod to Peeta Mellark from the original Hunger Games), a group of tough girls known as the Expenda-Belles, and a balding mentor named Avocado.
As Kantmiss battles for her life, she is also motivated by the prospect of winning prizes such as an old ham, a coupon for a foot-long sub, and a partially eaten pickle. Along the way, the film spoofs popular movies like The Avengers, Harry Potter, and The Expendables, among others.
In addition to Walsh, the film stars Cody Christian as Peter Malarky, Chris Marquette as Dale, and Diedrich Bader as President Snowballs. The Starving Games was directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, who are known for their parody films such as Date Movie and Meet the Spartans.
