The Star is an animated Christmas film released in 2017 by Sony Pictures Animation. The movie tells the story of an optimistic, yet clumsy donkey named Bo who dreams of a life beyond his boring, everyday routine at a village mill. One day, he escapes and hopes to become a great adventurer. As he travels toward his dream, he meets and befriends a sheep named Ruth and a dove named Dave.
Meanwhile, in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph are traveling to register for the census. They are unaware of the evil King Herod's plan to eliminate the newborn king, so they are watched over by some friendly farm animals. After escaping from the mill, Bo accidentally stumbles upon Mary and Joseph, and he realizes that they are on a holy journey.
With the aid of his newfound animal friends, Bo embarks on a perilous journey to help Mary and Joseph find a safe and secure place to give birth to the savior of the world - Jesus Christ. All the while, King Herod and his soldiers are in hot pursuit.
