Sutter Keely is a charming high school senior who enjoys living in the now. He's always the heart of the party, keeping everyone entertained with his wit and charisma. But despite his carefree attitude, Sutter is struggling with a lot of internal issues. He's an alcoholic, trying to forget about his broken family and lost dreams.
Aimee Finecky is a studious senior who's always had her nose in the books. She's never been interested in partying or socializing, as she has always been focused on school. Aimee is the complete opposite of Sutter in every way possible. She's shy, humble, and kind-hearted, though she too has her share of struggles. She's lived a sheltered life and is too scared to chase after her dreams.
The lives of Sutter and Aimee collide one morning when Sutter wakes up on Aimee's lawn. They strike up a friendship, and soon Sutter is showing Aimee how to live in the moment and enjoy life. As they spend more time together, they fall in love with each other. It's not the kind of love that they were expecting, but it feels real and right.
However, their relationship is not without its struggles. Sutter is still grappling with his alcoholism and fear of failure, while Aimee is trying to break out of her shell and figure out what she wants to do with her life after graduation. Sutter eventually pushes Aimee away, breaking her heart in the process. He soon realizes that he's not the best person for Aimee and decides to step back and let her find her own path.
In the end, Sutter learns to confront his demons and takes the first steps towards rebuilding his life. Aimee, on the other hand, finally finds the courage to pursue her dreams.
