The Space Children is a science fiction movie from 1958 directed by Jack Arnold. The movie takes place near a rocket test site in California at the height of the Cold War. One day, a glowing brain-like creature materializes on a beach near the test site via a teleportation beam. The alien communicates telepathically with the children of scientists who are working for the rocket test project.

The kids start behaving strangely, doing the alien's bidding and ignoring their parents' warnings. The adults become worried and even suspicious of their unruly offspring. They don't know the reason for their children's sudden change in behavior until they discover the alien on the beach.

With the help of a sympathetic scientist, the parents try to communicate with the alien. They learn that the creature is on a peaceful mission to prevent the launch of a rocket carrying a deadly weapon. But the military officials overseeing the test are not willing to listen. They see the alien as a threat and try to destroy it, leading to a tense standoff between the military and the parents.

The movie ultimately ends with a message of hope, as the children use their telepathic abilities to communicate with each other and convince their parents to listen to the alien's message of peace. The Space Children is a thought-provoking movie that explores themes of nuclear war, Cold War paranoia, and the power of youthful idealism.
