The movie follows the adventures of the Smurfs as they try to find a way back to their village while staying hidden from Gargamel and his cat Azrael. Along the way, they meet a young couple named Patrick and Grace, played by Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays, who agree to help them return home.
