The Small One is a 1978 animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions. The film was directed by Don Bluth and was based on a children's book by Charles Tazewell. It tells the story of a young boy living in ancient Israel who is forced by his father to sell his beloved donkey, Small One. The boy sets out on a journey to find a buyer for his donkey, but no one in the Jerusalem market wants to buy an old and weak donkey.
Feeling sad and disappointed, the boy is about to give up when he meets a kind man named Joseph, who needs a donkey to take his pregnant wife Mary to Bethlehem. Joseph sees potential in Small One and agrees to buy the donkey from the boy. The boy is hesitant at first, but ultimately agrees to sell his donkey to Joseph.
On their journey to Bethlehem, Small One and Joseph encounter various obstacles, including bandits and a sandstorm. However, Small One proves to be a loyal and hardworking donkey who helps Joseph and Mary reach their destination. When they finally arrive in Bethlehem, Joseph thanks Small One for all of his help by letting him sleep in the manger with the baby Jesus.
