The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 follows Bridget (played by Blake Lively), Lena (played by Alexis Bledel), Tibby (played by Amber Tamblyn), and Carmen (played by America Ferrera) after their high school graduation. The four girls are excited to start their new journeys, but they are also nervous about leaving their close-knit group behind.
Bridget goes to Turkey on an archaeological dig, where she meets and falls in love with a young man named Eric. Lena attends the Rhode Island School of Design and begins to date a model named Leo, but struggles with her feelings for her Greek boyfriend, Kostos. Tibby moves to New York City to attend NYU and starts dating a fellow film student named Brian. Carmen attends Vermont's Williams College and becomes involved in a theater production, but finds it hard to fit in with the other actresses.
Throughout their individual experiences, the girls continue to share the magical pair of pants that fit each of them perfectly, despite their varying body types. The pants serve as a symbol of their bond, helping to keep them connected even as they are thousands of miles apart.
As the summer progresses, the four girls face various challenges and obstacles, including unexpected pregnancies, artistic blocks, and the loss of a loved one.
