The Singing Detective is a 2003 comedy-drama film directed by Keith Gordon and starring Robert Downey Jr. as Dan Dark, a crime novelist who is hospitalized for a debilitating skin condition. While immobilized in his hospital bed, Dan's mind begins to wander and he hallucinates various musical numbers and paranoid plots that blur the line between fiction and reality.
