The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar is a biographical drama film based on Simone Biles' autobiography, Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance. The movie portrays the life of Simone Biles, from a young girl growing up in foster care to becoming one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. The movie follows Biles through her intense training and multiple injuries, her relationships with her family and coaches, and her journey to become a four-time Olympic gold medalist and a 19-time World Champion. In addition to Biles' personal life, the film highlights her impact on the sport of gymnastics, especially as a Black female athlete breaking barriers in a predominantly white sport. The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar stars Jeanté Godlock as Simone Biles, Julius Tennon as her grandfather, and Tisha Custodio as her coach. The movie was directed by Vanessa Parise and aired on Lifetime in February 2018.
