The Sicilian is a 1987 film directed by Michael Cimino and based on the novel of the same name by Mario Puzo. The story is set in 1940s Sicily and follows the journey of the legendary bandit Salvatore Guiliano, played by Christopher Lambert.
Guiliano rises to prominence as a Robin Hood-esque figure who steals from the wealthy and redistributes the wealth to the poor peasants. However, he soon finds himself at odds with the corrupt government officials, the Church, and the Mafia, with all of them pursuing their own agendas.
