The Shadow is a 1994 action-adventure film directed by Russell Mulcahy. It is based on the character from the 1930s comic strip by Walter B. Gibson. The film stars Alec Baldwin as the titular character, Lamont Cranston aka The Shadow, who has the ability to cloud men's minds and to become invisible. John Lone plays his arch-nemesis, Shiwan Khan.

The film is set in the 1930s and follows Cranston, a wealthy playboy who uses his powers to fight crime as The Shadow. When a series of bombings takes place in New York City, The Shadow suspects that Khan, a descendant of Genghis Khan, is behind the attacks. Khan has returned to New York to seek revenge on Cranston, who had previously imprisoned him in the Far East.

With the help of his assistant Margo Lane (Penelope Ann Miller), The Shadow must stop Khan's plan to hold the city to ransom using an atom bomb. As The Shadow and Khan face off, they use their powers of mind control and invisibility to fight a high-stakes battle for the future of New York.

The film is notable for its stylish art deco design and elaborate special effects, including the use of miniatures, matte paintings, and CGI. The Shadow's iconic costume, a black fedora and cape, has also become a memorable part of the character's legacy.

Despite mixed reviews and a lukewarm box office performance, The Shadow has gained a cult following over the years and is remembered as one of the more distinctive comic book adaptations of the 1990s.
