The Servant is a 1963 British drama film directed by Joseph Losey, starring Dirk Bogarde, Sarah Miles, Wendy Craig, and James Fox. The film follows the story of a young, handsome servant named Barrett (Bogarde) who begins working for a wealthy couple in London. The couple consists of the cold and distant Tony (Fox) and his beautiful, bored girlfriend Susan (Miles).
As Barrett becomes more familiar with his new surroundings, he begins to take advantage of his position and seduce Susan. The two embark on a passionate affair, but their romance is cut short when Tony discovers their relationship. He tries to break them apart, but Susan remains devoted to Barrett.
In an attempt to gain more power and control over Susan, Barrett convinces her to marry him and become his mistress while still living in the couple's home. However, as time goes on, Susan starts to realize that she wants more from life than being a servant's mistress. She becomes disillusioned with her relationship with Barrett and eventually leaves him.
