The Secret of NIMH is an animated film released in 1982, directed by Don Bluth. The film is based on the novel Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien.

The story follows Mrs. Brisby, a widowed field mouse who lives with her family in a cinder block in a farmer's field. When the farmer announces his plan to plow the field, Mrs. Brisby seeks help from Mr. Ages, a wise old mouse who suggests that she seek the assistance of the rats who live in a nearby rose bush.

However, Mrs. Brisby soon learns that the rats are not ordinary rats - they are the result of a secret government experiment that enhanced their intelligence. Though initially skeptical of the rats, Mrs. Brisby soon finds herself drawn into their struggle to survive and escape from the clutches of the scientist who created them.

As Mrs. Brisby works with the rats to move her family to safety, she faces numerous challenges, including the opposition of some of the rats and the interference of a group of sinister creatures known as the "Great Owls". Throughout the story, Mrs. Brisby demonstrates incredible bravery and determination, ultimately acting as a hero in her own right.

The Secret of NIMH has been praised for its stunning animation, intricate storytelling, and timeless message about the power of courage and compassion in the face of adversity.
